Lavender has long history of use. Its powerful properties are almost endless. Above all lavender is calming and soothing. Not only because of its scent but also due to anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Lavender may relieve headache, reduce anxiety and stress, promote restful sleep, sooth irritated skin, improve acne, sooth muscle spasms such as menstrual cramps, restless legs, and digestive cramps, lavender may also reduce itching caused by bug bites.
What usually comes to mind when mentioning lavender is the strong scent used in cleaning products. It is not unusual to use synthetic fragrance or high amounts of essential oil while formulating these products. More often then not these products can cause headaches and sometimes even nausea.
In our salve, however, we use slowly infused organic olive oil and organic lavender flowers. There are no essential oil nor fragrances used. You wouldn't believe how pleasant lavender scent can be. This technique makes our salve suitable for sensitive skin.
The Ritual
The Ritual
Apply externally on the affected area and massage (if that feels good). Apply to stomach area to relieve cramping, on temples for headache, rub between hands, and inhale lavender scent to decrease anxiety and promote sleep. This salve will soak into the skin effortlessly, there is no need to rub too hard. Do not apply on broken skin or wounds. It is not recommended for children, pregnant women, or while nursing.
